Brazil just wiped the smirk off Uncle Sam's face! At least now, some Americans can stop feeling smug about the Pre-World Championship, as they realize that Brazil and other members of the globe are closing in for a win. This should be a bleeping wake up call and should shake the national roster off their bench. Add to that fact that Carmelo Anthony can't play with his knee injury. Team USA's competing against the best and any minute, they can suddenly be out.
I hate to admit it but for an all-star, million-dollar team, one man like
Carmelo Anthony can make a big difference-- but is that enough to make the opponent crumble? Even with a 90-86 triumphant mark against Brazil, I've never seen Team USA almost crawling for the glory. I bet Brazil did feel good about it, having a 16-0 headstart after Anthony slumped his ass on the bench. The lead's now down to four, a sinking low compared to the double-digit smash against Puerto Rico and China. Team USA was even lucky to have 4 Brazilian players exit the game early, with the fouls.
When it comes to basketball, we're all cheesy fanatics. We even cheer for our basketball stars like they're going on war, yet, we can no longer tolerate another Vietnam. This is an exaggeration, but it will break our hearts to see them coming home empty-handed. We are a nation of winners and we don't easily tolerate defeat. For crying out loud, we invented basketball! No one should crush our
pride and spirit! I couldn't care less about NBA; all I want to see is our flag waving high up in the air.
