History of Soccer

The game of soccer unites and divides the European continent similar to wars and political ideologies in the past. Every European soccer game is a national event that stimulates nationalistic passion between opposing national teams. Fans cheers as if cheering an army in battles. Soccer may be a European favorite but it has an Asian origin. Historical documents indicate that a team sport game which involved kicking a ball into a small net was introduced by the Chinese military around the second and third century B.C. during the reign of the Han Dynasty. On the other hand, an archeological evidence of a game involving a marked field for playing ball kicking has been found in Kyoto, Japan. It is estimated that the game of soccer, in some forms or another, has been played for at least 3000 years. However, the undisputed birthplace of modern soccer is Great Britain isles. Soccer or football has been a popular game in Britain since the eight century.

Here are some soccer basics. Soccer game is played by two opposing teams with distinctive or readily identifiable uniforms. Each team is composed of not more than eleven players, one of which is the goal keeper. The minimum players needed in an official match must not be less than seven players. The game is played for 90 minutes divided into halves. The main objective of the game is for a team to score higher goals or score than the other team by kicking the ball into the opposing team’s goal line.
